Diamond Diaries: Two
“There is no scarcity of opportunity to make a living at what you love; there’s only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.”
― Wayne Dyer
I have never really felt the desire to be first in line to get my free key chain at an event, or buy something because it says “while supplies last’ or “limited time only”. I always felt that there would be enough for me or that there is something better out there that will come my way. That all changed while making my way back home a few weeks ago.
I was at the airport and waiting in the good ole’ TSA line. Ever since i got TSA Pre-Check (major game changer and highly recommend it) I haven’t really been stressed about the security check anymore. They usually go smooth and I get through rather quickly. However, there is one particular airport where the TSA Pre-Check does not live up it’s hype. I don’t want to say the name but it begins with C and ends with harlotte.
While I was waiting in line, someone behind me mentioned how he thinks they turn off the air conditioning during rush hour just to put people in a “better” mood. It caught my attention and we started chatting about the airport, flights, etc. I was really enjoying the conversation. Enjoying it so much that before I knew it, I was picking my stuff up at the end of the belt. This is really odd for me since I typically go through the security portion of the check point laser focused and keep an eye on on my stuff – no talking, no messing around.
As we gathered our stuff he saw my Young Living bag and asked if I worked for them. “Ahhh, I sure do”
He quickly mentioned his sleep issues and mentioned that his wife told him to start looking at essential oils. BINGO!! We talked for a few more minutes and I said I would send him an email with some more information on Young Living and essential oils.
During my flight I kept going over in my head of what my email to him will say. I kept rewriting that same email in my head when I landed, on the drive home, the next day, the day after that….I HAD TO WRITE THE PERFECT EMAIL but I kept rewriting it so that it was PERFECT. He was such a great prospect and I didn’t want to lose the opportunity.
It was driving me crazy. I knew writing a simple email wasn’t a big deal but yet, I couldn’t write it. I was scared I would say something stupid and lose this opportunity. I had scarcity mindset and it was not good.
I was thinking that he was my one and only opportunity for an enrollment or a potential business builder. I was dead wrong. He was a great prospect and I knew the oils would help him with his sleep but he was not the last person I would ever meet. He was not my one and only opportunity.
I transitioned my thought from one of scarcity to one of abundance and realized that if it works out great – if it doesn’t, at least had a good conversation in TSA Pre-Check line and have his email to send for future classes, webinars etc.
So I gave myself five minutes to write and send the email. I didn’t stress over it. I didn’t re-read it 50 times. I just sparked his memory on where we met and gave him some information on Young Living related to sleep issues. Pretty simple.
It felt good sending that email off. My mind was transitioning from one of scarcity to one of abundance. Every person I have met since then, abundance is in my head and I don’t get stressed or worried about saying something wrong. I can just sit back, converse and get to know the person a little better.
PS: I still am waiting for a response from my email. But that is ok, there are nearly 8 billion people in this world for me to talk to.
What I am listening to: Come and Get Your Love – Redbone. Just a good song to get you going while working, cooking, cleaning…
Morning Motivation: Matthew McConaughey Commencement Speech – Univ of Houston. Alright, alright, alright, this is a great speech and kind of took me by surprise. I have listened to it multiple time now and his even though his message is spot on, the way he delivers it is kind of inspiring. You can find cleaner version out there but this is the actual video from his speech.
What I am reading: The Miracle Equation by Hal Elrod. I really enjoyed his first book The Miracle Morning and it gave me a new perspective on starting my day. I have just started The Miracle Equation and already, it is going to be a great book. He talks about limiting beliefs, faith, controlling your emotions, setting goals (and MUCH more) in your pursuit of you dreams. As a bonus, he talk about his days with a Network Marketing firm that can be directly applied to what I am doing now.
